A Life in the North

One would think that having been raised on a homestead, Kristin would have welcomed the escape to modern life... but after graduating from college, she moved instead to Fairbanks and lived in a much more hostile environment as a mother of three small children, with no running water or electricity for many years, working at the Univeristy of Alaska and attending graduate school.

She recently worked in Barrow for the North Slope Borough, learning skin sewing, carving, and much about life in the Arctic. Coming home to Soldotna, it seems lovelier than ever.
