Kristin in Barrow, Alaska
Alaska is part of who I am, but I also belong to the world. As long as I'm healthy enough to have adventures, and to experience other cultures, I feel driven to do what I can to be of service.

My Peace Corps Experience --
My home state of Alaska is known as the Last Frontier. It seems appropriate that I was sent to Europe's "Last Frontier"... Romania. During my more than two years in that country, I got a very intense personal education about the country, and learned a lot about myself.. I was sixty years old when I went into the Peace Corps. During my time there, I missed out on the first two years of my youngest two grandchildren's lives, and also bonding time with my other six grandkids. I will try to make up for those missing years by frequent visits during the rest of my life. I missed my kids and extended family, but my wanderlust continues.
As I continue my retirement life of family and travel adventures, I agreed to keep posting to this online journal, at the request of friends and readers. I probably won't be so frequent or as reliable as previously, but this is probably a good way to stay in touch, and I'll always be very happy to hear from you!
